Group Instruction is in recess until October 2010
We will run our Computer Basics class beginning October 7th. We have quite a few members who want to take the Basic course so rather than ask folks to wait until November for the second course we are planning to run two courses in October. Bob Hedenberg will teach one and Bruce Millar will teach the other. The course will cover Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. When you have completed the course you will understand how to make use of your computer to work on the Internet, do email, use social networking sites and use the most common software programs. We will contact all of you who have asked to take the course individually with further details.

We are also going to teach a word processing course in October with the final dates still to be determined. This course will be based on the Open Office product called Writer which is equivalent to Microsoft Word but free. Please let any of us or Karie know if you are interested in this course. Come by during a meeting or drop-in session, send an email or leave a message with reception. This portion of the Webpage was produced using this program.

Schedule ...Computer Basics
We can only take six students in each class to ensure there is adequate time for the instructor to provide some level of individual help, which is often needed. Each course runs for five weeks, on Thursdays.
Class start times are 1:30 PM, dates as noted below.
October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4, 2010        November 11, 18, 25, December 2 and 9, 2010
Windows 7
Have you been considering upgrading your operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7 or are you considering acquiring a Windows 7 PC but are concerned about learning the new operataing system? If the answer is yes and you would like to see Windows 7 in action and have a chance to try it out we will run at least one orientation session on September 14th. This will give you enough information to get started or decide if Windows 7 offers enough advantages to consider upgrading. This is a good bit of what our September 14th Tuesday morning meeting, as noted below, is all about.
