To be able to dance is a wonderful social asset.
Stella and Bud Switzer have been teaching Ballroom Dancing for over 50 years. Their students have included people from all walks of life and ages, from teens to seniors ... including seniors in their 80's and 90's. Beginners who have not danced before and more advanced students can all do well. The Switzers believe that anyone can learn to dance provided they can walk, enjoy music, and have the desire and patience to learn.
This is a very informal class. You are with people of your own age group. You get tips on proper styling, posture, how to lead/follow, putting steps together (routines that can be used on the dance floor), recognizing the various rhythms, how each dance has its own characteristic, while improving your balance, improving memory, and having a really good physical workout.
Stella and Bud teach variety of steps and dances originating from around the world. Learn to do smooth dances such as the Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, Tango and Viennese Waltz. Learn about Rhythm/Latin dances such as Salsa, Jive, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba and Meringue. All this while having a whole lot of fun!
Classes are on Tuesday evenings from 7:45 to 8:45
at the Aurora Seniors Centre.
See the Parks and Recreation Program for details.
