Greetings ASA Members:
To begin with I would like to introduce you to your ASA Board for the June 2022 – June 2023 Calendar year. They are as follows:

Cheryl Rhines – Treasurer
Carol Hedenberg, Anne Overington, Nick Senick, Glen Sharpe and Vern Cunningham.
Previously you were informed that Cheryl Rhines was stepping down as our Secretary. Fortunately for all of us Cheryl has agreed to remain for an additional year to assist in training several new members who will serve on the Finance committee.
Everyone on the Board along with our Town employees Karie, Andrew, Bill and Brandie will be working together to bring the ASA membership back to the pre-Covid numbers and to return as many of the activities as possible that you have enjoyed in the past. Many of our programs have already returned and the members who have come back are making the Centre a wonderful place to be again. The Board would like to sincerely thank all our members for their support and encouragement during these past 2 1/2 difficult years. You have been very understanding and patient!
September is going to be a very busy month! We will be holding an Open House and a membership drive. The Open House will be held from Tuesday, September 6th till Monday, September 12th to promote the Centre and the activities we offer. Keep checking the Website for details. It should be a fun week.
Just a reminder that we currently have two fund raising campaigns running. There is a bottle drive and a chocolate bar sale. Please bring us all your wine, beer and spirits bottles and cans. They can be deposited in bins provided by the front doors. And while you are at the Centre treat yourself to a delicious chocolate bar. You will find them by the Reception desk. They are delicious, it’s for a good cause and you deserve a treat!
These fund raisers are especially important at this time as do to our reduced membership, as a result of Covid, we find ourselves operating “in the Red”. If you have any other ideas for a fund raiser don’t hesitate to let us know your ideas and be aware that you are most welcome to participate in running such projects, once approved. Contact the chairs of our fund raising Carol Palmer and Pat Varney.
We have several new events planned for your enjoyment.
- A BBQ is being held on Wednesday, July 13 at 12:00 PM (Tickets at Reception)
- Fun and Games nights are being held on Fridays, July 8th, 15th and 29th from 7 PM – 10 PM
- Blue Jays watch party on Fridays, July 15th and August 12th from 7 PM – 10 PM
- Bocci and Canasta have started up. Details are in the newsletter.
- Our Hoedown is being held Friday, July 22nd from 7 to 10 pm. Tickets at Reception.
- There are a number of bus tours planned. A Fallsview Casino trip, a day in Port Dover and the musical Chicago. Details can be found on the bulletin board, newsletter or at reception.
One final note; our website committee has been redesigning our website starting with a new calendar. They have sent out a survey to all standing committee chairs and activity coordinators. The goal is to get more updates and news from the various committees to put on the website. We hope this will help our members keep better informed about the various activities and encourage you to use the website as a source of information about the Centre. I think you will all be pleased. We invite your comments, good and bad. We welcome your feedback as your input is important in continuing to improve our Centre.
