It’s that time of the year again! I’m not referring to the Holiday Season, I’m talking about Membership Renewal Time. Yes, another year has come and gone so it’s time to renew your membership to our wonderful ASA.

This year you are able to renew your membership online. Note, this only applies to renewals, new members must still join in person. Of course, you are still welcome to renew in person at the Centre. We have set aside four weeks especially for this. There will be extra volunteers available to help accommodate everyone. Those weeks are the first two weeks of December and the first two weeks of January. Remember your membership runs out on January 31st. As previously mentioned there has been an increase in membership fees. Residents are now $35 while non-residents have increased to $50. Still a bargain at that price.

Something else you can do on our updated website is to make a donation online. Instructions can be found on the website.

Recently the ASA was awarded the Queens Platinum Jubilee Award for recognition of our non-profit organization helping in Aurora and surrounding communities. You will be able to see the certificate in one of our display cases. We can thank the staff and volunteers for earning us this award.

The Provinces Chief Medical Officer is again encouraging the use of masks in indoor settings. We are not mandating their use at the Centre but highly encourage you to use one while there.

We have two new activities you may enjoy. They are a Conversational French group and a Writer’s Circle. Details can be found in the newsletter. Hopefully, we will have other new activities to introduce in the New Year. We are always eager for your input in this matter. If you have any ideas for an activity or if you have a skill you can share we would love to hear from you!

Just in time for the Holidays, the Silver Stars will be presenting a Show on Dec. 3rd & 4th. Tickets are available at Reception. It is sure to put you in the Holiday mood. Also, the Newmarket Citizens Band will be performing at the Centre on December 20th.

The Holiday Season is upon us. It’s a busy time of the year visiting with family and friends. Take note of the ASA’s Holiday hours. The Centre will close on Friday, Dec. 23 at 10:00 PM and will reopen on Wed. Dec. 28 at 8:30 AM. The Centre will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2nd, 2023.

In closing I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and the best of the Holiday season! Try not to overindulge or you may have to make some serious New Years’ Resolutions. Ha Ha !!

Speaking of Resolutions, last year I resolved to work toward a successful reopening of the Centre. Due to our fabulous team of Staff, Volunteers and Members we have pretty well accomplished that goal. This year I resolve to continue working with the team to have an even more successful 2023!  Again special thanks go to Karie, Andrew, Brandie and Bill. They all go above and beyond their actual duties to help make our Centre such a special place! We want them to know how much they are appreciated.

All The Best for 2023! Dave LeGallais
