Regrettably 2021 isn’t starting off as well as we might have hoped. As I’m sure you are aware the Covid-19 situation in Ontario is slowly improving but there is now concern of the spread of the variant viruses. The Ontario Government is reevaluating what zone York Region will enter next. As a result our doors will have to stay closed till at least some time in March. We are in constant touch with Christine Elliott‘s office and they have assured us that as soon as the vaccine is available to seniors, they will us know what the procedures for distributing it will be. We will then pass any information we receive on to you, our members, through the web site and e-flashes.
Senior Centres Without Walls will continue to offer various virtual programs that you may enjoy during this time.
It is certainly a shame that we continue to be unable to get together with our ASA friends to enjoy all the activities we are so fond of. Although the vaccine rollout has been slower than anticipated, it is coming in the near future. We just have to remain patient and keep following safety protocols. As a matter of interest, the University of Guelph has designed a Vaccine Queue Calculator for Canada. You can Google it and check out where, approximately, you are in line.
Please be assured that your Board and the Reopening Committee continue to meet regularly to keep up with the latest information from the various levels of Government and to plan for our eventual reopening. We will keep you updated through our Website, the Newsletter and with E-flashes. Speaking of the Newsletter, you can pick up a hard copy of it between the front doors of the Centre.
For now I would just like to encourage everyone to stay safe by limiting leaving your homes, as much as possible. Let’s try to keep an optimistic attitude. 2021 may not be starting off with a bang but I have no doubt that before we know it things will begin to look a lot brighter. Take care everyone!
